The Memphis Stamp Collectors Society (MSCS) hosted the Memphis Philatelic Exhibition, or MEMPHEX, at the Agricenter, Memphis, TN on Sept 29th and Sept 30th, 2018. The exhibition ran for two days and featured judged stamp exhibits, and multiple dealers selling stamps.
Dave Saks – Received a Vermeil for his exhibit “First Days, First Flights, and Lucky Lindy” – 7 frames. America’s Centennial Celebration of Airmail 1918 – 2018.
David Kiehn - received Gold for his exhibit titled “United Nations First Issues and Anniversaries” – 3 frames.
The United Nations, founded in 1945, first began issuing postage stamps in 1951. Kiehn's MEMPHEX exhibit displayed stamps and other philatelic items issued by the United Nations and selected member nations including UN “first issue” stamps, anniversary stamps and stamps issued to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the UN.
Andy Burkman – Received both Gold and Best of Show for his exhibit titled” The Clipper Air Mail Service in the Philippines – 1935 to 1941.” A Collection of Flown Covers. – 2 frames.
Clipper Airmail - 1939 Airmail from Santa Cruz, Zambales to Ancon, Canal Zone. The 1 Peso, 30 Centavo postage paid the combined Air Mail rates from the Philippines to the U.S. and from the U.S. to the Canal Zone.
